OSPF Network Type Name Does it send Multicast or Unicast Updates? Is it a Shared or Point-to-Point
NBMA i.e. Non-Broadcast Multi -Access Unicast, so it needs neighbor configuration Shared, so it requires a DR
Broadcast Multicasts updates, so no neighbor configuration Shared, so it requires a DR
Point-to-point Multicasts updates, so no neighbor configuration Point-to-point 

Only two devices in a subnet (or a loopback interface)

Point-to-multipoint Multicasts updates, so no neighbor configuration Point-to-point 

Permits more than two devices per subnet. Host routes generated for each router.

Point-to-multipoint non-broadcast Unicast, so it needs neighbor configuration Point-to-point
